Americans are Fat
Years ago I visited Italy and was blown away with the svelte, trim ladies everywhere. Nobody I saw was overweight. As we sat at the tables on the sidewalk having dinner, a tourist bus pulled up and out tumbled a busload of sweaty, red-faced, obese, men and women, struggling down the steps of the bus which were just a few feet from our table. The waiter poured our wine while looking up at the new group he was going to serve. My heart mutter beneath his breath, “Americans!” I felt ashamed of my people for being so ignorant to get into that condition. Today thirty-six percent of Americans are overweight, or obese, and we are the 10th most obese country in the world. It is predicted 50% of Americans will be obese in the year 2025

You certainly don’t need that test to see fat people everywhere you look. Obesity and being overweight occurred during the past thirty years in my recollection, and I remember when some were overweight, and only a few were really obese, now they are everywhere. At Walmart or nearly everywhere you see these roly-polies wobbling away, puffing upstairs, struggling to get in and out of cars. There are many theories of how this happened, but regardless there must be a solution, for it threatens to become the foremost cause of chronic disease.
Problems of Excess Weight.
What effects does excess weight have on the body? According to the National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK)Trusted Source, carrying extra weight can increase the risk of the following conditions:
- It makes the heart work harder
- It raises blood pressure, blood cholesterol, and triglyceride levels.
- It lowers high-density lipoprotein (HDL, or good cholesterol levels.
- Increases possibility of diabetes
- Coronary heart disease, stroke
- Gallbladder disease
- Sleep apnea and respiratory problems
- Some cancers, including endometrial, breas,t and colon cancer.
Reasons for this rising prevalence include urbanization of the world’s population, fast food with no nutrient value and or toxic content, increased availability of food supplies, food additives, nutrients milled and processed out, toxic elements added for shelf life, sweeteners, GMO, and 5G. We have many gyms but most people are couch potatoes who are tv dinners, pizza, and McDonald’s French fry consumers. Trans fat diets are in every kind of food. Even moderate obesity may cause these maladies.
Keto is a Means of Losing Weight: What is it?
Simply remove all carbohydrates from your diet. This is not as easy as it sounds. When you do this, the state of Ketosis sets in. That is what you are looking for in this diet. What is that? Carbs are foods like bread, fruit, and starchy vegetables. Ketosis is one way the body can obtain energy from food. Usually, the body breaks down carbohydrates into glucose, which it uses for energy. Here is what happens when your body consumes more carbs than the body needs — the excess energy that comes from consuming more carbs than the body needs becomes fat. If the body does not have sufficient carbohydrates to burn for energy, it will enter ketosis and start burning fat, which is how a person loses weight. The ketogenic or keto diet takes this process one step further by removing carbs from the diet so the body begins exclusively burning fat for energy. While many are using this system to lose weight, and it really works, it should be tried only after learning how to do it. It is not easy to stay on it, and there is lots to it.
It Works, if you do it right, but it is Stressful to Start and Maintain
The ketogenic diet is an assortment of low-carbohydrate meals. For example, A typical diet in the West contains a range of 225 to 325g of carbohydrates daily. However, a keto diet would push for your daily carbohydrate to just be about 10% of your entire daily calorie intake. That translates to around 50 per day. There will be NO foods with rich carbohydrate content such as pasta, whole grains, rice, and meals in that category. If that has been your life-foodstyle, cutting it off cold can be stressful
